How to Use Whatnot’s Rewards Program to Drive More Sales

How to Use Whatnot’s Rewards Program to Drive More Sales

Whatnot’s Rewards Program is a powerful tool for building buyer loyalty and boosting repeat purchases in your live shows. Many sellers set up their rewards without a strategy — which can lead to missed opportunities. In this post, I’ll show you how to use the rewards program intentionally to increase engagement and sales.

Quick Overview of Whatnot’s Rewards Program

Whatnot’s Rewards Program allows sellers to offer tiered incentives to buyers based on how much they engage with your shows and how much they purchase. The more buyers interact and spend, the bigger the reward they can unlock — all designed to keep them coming back.

Smart Ways to Set Up Your Rewards Program

When setting up your rewards, think like a buyer. You want buyers to feel like the next tier is within reach — not impossible. If your goals are too high, they’ll give up and stop engaging.

Here’s a proven strategy for each tier:

🥉 Bronze Tier (First Tier)

Settings available: Number of shows to watch, number of items to purchase, minimum dollar amount.

Strategy:

  • Shows to watch: Set this to the minimum (3). This feels attainable and encourages them to show up consistently.

  • Number of items: Set this low — even 1 item works well to encourage first purchases. If you sell low-priced items, you can set it to 3 to drive multi-item orders.

  • Dollar amount: Again, keep this low ($5–$10) to encourage participation.

Reward idea: Small coupon — 3–5% off.

🥈 Silver Tier (Second Tier)

Settings available: Number of items to purchase, minimum dollar amount. Note: You cannot set “shows watched” at this level.

Strategy:

  • Number of items: Aim for 10 items.

  • Dollar amount: Around $50 (adjust based on your pricing).

Why: These thresholds encourage buyers to shop more heavily in one show or across multiple shows.

Reward idea: 5–10% off coupon

🥇 Gold Tier (Third Tier)

Settings available: Number of items to purchase, minimum dollar amount.

Strategy:

  • Number of items: 25 items.

  • Dollar amount: Around $100.

Why: By this point, buyers are highly engaged — reward them generously.

Reward idea: 10–20% off coupon

🏆 Platinum Tier (Top Tier)

Settings available: Number of items to purchase, minimum dollar amount.

Strategy:

  • Number of items: 200 items (or adjust depending on your show style).

  • Dollar amount: $250 or higher.

Why: Buyers who reach this tier are your super-fans — they will chase this goal if the reward is worth it.

Reward idea: 50% off one item

Pro Tip: Limit the Number of Rewards

For each tier, you can also set a limit on how many rewards are available. This creates urgency and encourages buyers to act fast to claim a reward.

Final Thoughts

When done well, the Whatnot Rewards Program becomes a fun game for your buyers — and a smart way to build loyalty. The key is to:✅ Make early tiers easy to reach.✅ Keep buyers motivated through higher tiers.✅ Offer rewards that feel exciting but still protect your margins.
