Is it best to just create 1 generalized thumbnail for every show?

I have a few different ones that I use for specific shows and then I have created a new unique one if I am doing something different. Like I have a Holiday Ornament Gift exchange show I am going to do so I made a different thumbnail for that one. I say do what works for you. Maybe start simple and then work your way to doing more styles.
